Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Pupil and Family Support (PFS) Worker to join a forward-looking 11 - 19 school. The Sweyne Park School is the lead school in the newly established Rayleigh Schools Trust and works with a local primary school, providing a 0 - 19 educational experience for the local community. The successful applicant will have experience of working with pupils and families to support them with emotional difficulties, behavioural concerns, self- esteem and friendship/relationship difficulties.

Staff in the Pupil and Family Support department work as a strong team, to build and maintain good relationships with pupils, staff, parents/carers and other agencies, to deliver intervention programmes for pupils presenting with mental health issues and/or social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. This role offers the opportunity to work with enthusiastic, supportive and committed colleagues.

Essential Skills and Experience

· plan the delivery of intervention programmes for pupils presenting with mental health issues and or social, emotional or behavioural difficulties

· work with pupils to support them with emotional difficulties, behavioural concerns, self- esteem and friendship/relationship difficulties (e.g. help pupils to develop strategies) and ensure that accurate and contemporaneous case records are kept

· provide support, advice and strategies to parents and or staff

· build and maintain good relationships with pupils, school staff, parents/carers, other agencies working with the child

· write accurate reports, deal effectively with referral forms, and attend meetings and case reviews.

· oversee responsibilities within PFS or the wider school (line managed by the Head of Department)

· ability to travel to meetings

· work flexibly; carry out any other reasonable duties as required

· an understanding of, and ability to comply with, procedures for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults

· adhere to Data Protection Policy, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times

· experience of Therapeutic Interventions and Behaviour Management

Hours

The role is for 40 hours per week from 8am - 4.30pm, for 45.1 weeks of the year (five of which are paid holiday entitlement along with five days employment in the summer holiday).
