Lead Practitioner - Preferably with an EBacc Subject Specialism (English Language/Literature, Mathematics, the Sciences, Geography, History or French)

The Ockendon Academy are currently looking for an experienced secondary school teacher to join us as a Lead Practitioner preferably with an EBacc Subject Specialism. This is a leading and highly visible role which will aim to ensure the highest standards of achievement for our pupils whilst leading the monitoring, evaluation and review of standards and provision.

We are keen to appoint someone who enjoys inspiring students through their passion for their subject, has excitement and drive for teaching and learning and a strong desire to make a difference to student achievement and helping us to continue the new and exciting improvements being introduced by our staff under the leadership of our newly-appointed Principal. In return, the Academy will provide support through mentoring and the provision of ongoing CPD and training.

The Ockendon Academy strives for excellence and understand that these core subjects are an essential part of providing all-round education. Our dedicated and hard-working teams in these departments value the importance of high-quality learning and you will become an integral part of the team in your specialism to constantly push and improve our EBacc targets.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be educated to a first degree level or equivalent and hold QTS.
  • Experience of teaching the UK curriculum to Key Stage 5 and providing an excellent classroom presence.
  • Assess and mark work, monitor pupils' progression and raise attainment levels.
  • Have evidence of supporting students effectively and possess a capacity to deliver engaging lessons, which inspire and motivate pupils to challenge their own learning.
  • Have the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
