Deputy Headteacher

Leadership Scale 12-16

Queen Boudica Primary School is a thriving and successful two-form entry primary school situated on the north side of Colchester. Since opening in 2009, the school has expanded twice and is now full with a capacity of 420 pupils. We offer modern, well-resourced learning environments and our pupils are well mannered, dynamic and motivated to learn.

Our Ofsted inspection (September 2017) has confirmed our good provision and recognises that our school 'is a safe and happy learning environment.' Pupils 'enjoy coming to school and their outcomes demonstrate many strengths in both Key Stages 1 and 2.'

Our staff are happy and committed, they plan together and support each other in year group teams. We also have a superb team of support staff who run a range of interventions as well as providing general classroom support. Ofsted found that 'staff have great confidence in the senior leaders and morale is high.'

The governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding practitioner to work with the Headteacher to further develop our existing high standards of care, welfare and achievement for all.

You will have:

· A positive, creative, hard-working and approachable disposition which fits into our friendly team

· The ability to engage with and motivate staff, learners and parents alike to improve outcomes for all pupils and their families

· Previous experience of school leadership and the ability to see the 'whole picture'

· Demonstrable previous experience as an outstanding and innovative classroom practitioner

· A commitment to excellence and having the highest expectations of all pupils

· An ability to model positive behaviour management strategies with children at the centre

· Strong evidence of effective strategic planning and self-evaluation skills to deliver school improvement which makes a real difference to the lives of pupils

· The ability to implement supportive practice to promote the wellbeing of the whole school community

· A commitment to developing best practice within an inclusive and multi-cultural setting

In return for your experience, enthusiasm and commitment, we offer the opportunity to fulfil your ambitions and potential within a team of hardworking, dedicated staff, governors and supportive parents. Working alongside the Headteacher, you will have significant areas of personal responsibility, and consequently, this role will enable you to develop the skills and experience required for a potential substantive Headship in the future.

Visits to the school are strongly encouraged.
