Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above permanent, term time only, post which offers an excellent opportunity to work in this highly successful sixth form college.

The College is one of the largest and most successful 16-19 providers in the country. It maintains an outstanding reputation both locally and nationally. The College's prime aim is to provide broad, high quality academic and general education programmes to our 16-19 year old full time students. The College is very secure in terms of finances and student admissions. Currently we have just over 3000 full time students on roll, most of whom are following two-year A Level courses which means it is one of the three largest sixth form colleges in the country. There are also approximately 80 students following the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme and we also offer a one-year GCSE 'improvement' (Advanced Foundation) programme. Our students mainly live within a 15 mile radius of Colchester but some students travel in excess of 35 miles on a daily basis.

We believe that much of the success of the College, and indeed sixth form colleges in general, lies in the strong emphasis on pastoral care and a concern for the particular needs of each individual student. The College has its own pleasant and distinctive atmosphere and a clear sense of community. Our students adopt a mature approach and staff/student relationships are very good. Each student is allocated to a tutor group led by a Personal Tutor who looks after the general and academic welfare of that student. This work is supported by a Senior Tutor.

You will also be required to liaise, as directed, with external agencies such as GPs, mental health teams, Safeguarding and Children's Social Care.

The successful candidate will also be involved in the provision and organisation of health initiatives such as vaccination programmes and in the development of relevant health and welfare related tutorial activities, and provision of health and welfare related information for students.
