Caretaker required for two small school sites (Waterman and Stambridge Primary Schools)

30 hours per week (split shift)

Band 2 (mid point) actual salary £12,816 (£15,807 pro rata)

6- 9am then 3-6pm Monday to Friday, with additional evening and weekend lettings.

We are seeking to recruit a Caretaker to look after our school sites, ensuring we have safe, clean and well maintained learning environments for our happy, friendly pupils.

The ideal candidate will have a broad range of DIY skills. Duties will include site security, porterage, cleaning, routine health and safety checks, liaising with contractors, litter-picking and rubbish clearing, minor repairs and maintenance. Some work in this role is physically demanding. The Caretaker will be the primary key holder and as such will be the first emergency contact for premises issues. A key part of the role is ensuring the site is Health and Safety compliant and keeping appropriate records and logs.

The school utilises the buildings for external lettings; the Caretaker will be responsible for maintaining these, for which overtime is paid.

The successful candidate will be resourceful, hardworking and flexible, with a commitment to their own professional development. All staff, whatever their role, contribute to the teaching and learning of pupils; the role of the Caretaker is to ensure the building and grounds are presented and maintained to the highest standard to ensure pupils are proud of their safe and clean learning environment.

Waterman Primary School is a small, friendly school in the heart of Rochford, serving the local community.
