Two Learning Support Assistants (Special Educational Needs)
Required as soon as possible
Band 2 Local Government Scale
We require two highly effective and experienced learning support assistants to support a year 4 pupil with complex and challenging needs.
One of the successful candidates will work mornings and the other will work afternoons during term time only.
Candidates will need a good standard of English and Mathematics, the equivalent of GCSE grade C or above and will also need to demonstrate the following attributes:-

An understanding of attachment needs and how trauma can impact on behaviour

Calm and measured responses, giving clear verbal and non-verbal signals

Keyworker skills including relationship development and being able to set clear boundaries and expectations for learning and behaviour

An understanding of how emotional triggers prompt behaviour responses and how to reduce the impact of these

The ability to provide support to the class teacher through feedback about pupil engagement and behaviour

A secure understanding of safeguarding issues and how to implement risk assessments for pupils and follow a consistent management plan

Experience of emotional regulation as a tool to help a pupil assess and improve their own emotional state
The governing body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
Visits to the school are strongly encouraged after 3rd September and applications are invited by the closing date which is Monday 29th September 2014.
