This is an exciting opportunity to join our school as we are building a new brand kitchen to serve freshly cooked school meals onsite for our children here at St John's CofE Primary School. The new catering manager will be experienced at working within a school kitchen, understanding the importance of healthy eating whilst acknowledging that food should be appealing for all children who have a range of dietary needs.
The successful candidate will also be working with the leadership team to recruit an assistant cook who they will work alongside as well as supervising a small team of catering assistants. You must be friendly and approachable by children, staff and parents.
The school meals provided should be delivered to the highest standards, ensuring excellence as the school believes the eating experience is part of our whole school experience.

· Planning, preparing and presenting all food in line with Statutory Regulations and School Food Standards;
· Ensuring that methods of preparation and presentation comply with currently recognised catering standards and food safety legislation;
· Managing a small team including ensuring effective Performance Management;
· Responsibility for ordering food supplies and stock control labelling and rotation;
· Ensuring prompt service of all meals;
· Ensuring the school kitchen is well maintained and cleaned regularly.
Candidates will have an awareness of and experience dealing with:
· Completing monitoring and food temperature records;
· Managing a daily cleaning checklist;
· Cross contamination and allergen management;
· Menu planning and compliance;
· Health and safety in food hygiene.
Hours of work: 9am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday (term time only)
