We are looking for an experienced and knowledgable Manager to Support our fast growing team and families at yellow brick road Highwoods.

We have a fantastic team of 5 and are looking for a great leader to support them in their roles and establish our new setting.

Applicants must:

  • Hold a level 3 in early years or above.
  • Have experince in leadership.
  • Be knowledgable in embedding a curriculum and supporting the team to promote this in practise.
  • Have a good understanding of the EYFS and how to embed this into the setting.
  • Be safeguarding trained.
  • Be passionate about supporting children and their families and our team.
  • Be pro active and ready to get involved with the team, leading by example.
  • Have a good work ethic with admin side of the role.
  • Have confidence to delegate and ensure a smooth running of the nursery.

Managers Job Description

Yellow Brick Road Nursery prides itself with strong leadership and management and has high expectations from the setting managers to provide excellent quality of care and teaching and supporting their team with full support from the settings directors those roles and responsibilities include:

Managing staff:

· Be part of the interview and safe recruitment process for candidates joining the team.

· Be responsible for managing staff, meeting ratios, covering staff sickness where possible and organising staffs days and hours, overtime is to be agreed with directors.

· Be responsible for half termly or termly supervisions and setting staff reasonable goals, spotting areas for development and recognising strengths to support staffs wellbeing.

· Provide staff with monthly time sheets to be sent to lacy on the 15th of every month.

· Support staff in their continuous professional development and put forward for training.

· Ensure staff are challenged on their safeguarding knowledge and intent of teaching.

· Delegate roles and responsibilities to staff and deputy and assistant deputy to share the workload and promote team effort.

Embedding a strong curriculum:

· Understand the ethos of yellow brick road nursery and read through our curriculum to understand as a company what we want to achieve for the children in our care.

· Implement the curriculum through play and well thought out areas to get the intended impact from the children.

· Ensure staff understand out curriculum and this is challenged in a positive and motivating way.

Supporting families:

· Along with the directors be available for home visits and ensuring relevant paperwork is provided and updated for home visits.

· Ensure a good sense of communication with families is delivered through the whole setting.

· Offer flexibility and a welcoming environment where possible.

· Arrange and organise termly coffee mornings for parents.

· Keep families up to date with news on Facebook and WhatsApp and termly newsletters.

Safeguarding:

· As the settings DSL you will be required to hold a level 3 in safeguarding training and be that lead responsible for safeguarding the staff and children in the setting.

· Ensure all staff have read and understand the safeguarding policy.

· Liase with outside agencies accordingly and share information on a need to know basis.

· Ensure daily risk assessments are being carried out and the building and equipment is safe and ready to use before the children arrive.

Admin:

· Keeping our spaces charts and master lists up to date with all relevant information when new children start and leave this needs to be updated at all times.

· Recording children's information's and ensuring there is a copy saved and completed full on the one drive along with permissions.

· Annually check policies and procedures are up to date and being followed.

· Annually checking care plans and making sure these are up to date and checking any medications.

· Ensure accident and incident forms are being annalysed termly and putting any adjustments in place that need to be.

· Keeping allergy lists are up to date and known to staff.

· Ensure relevant information that is legally required to be displayed is on show and up to date.

· Updating registers as and when needed.

· Keeping staff up to date with their two year checks and overseeing all assessments, termly tracking and challenging staff on childrens next steps.

· Responsible for recognising what children are in receipt of EYPP and logging termly how this money has been spent and the impact it has had on the children.

· Ensure PAF forms are signed annually by parents in receipt of funding and new children who sign up complete them too.

· Send out monthly invoices for private paying families and for the sustainability charge to funded families.

Day to Day running:

· Along with your team, making sure the nursery is kept to a clean and tidy standard at the end of every day, kitchen areas are clean and toilets and nappy changing areas.

· Be a part of the team in every day practise leading by example and joining in the fun!

· Work closely with the directors and keep good communication and up to date with what is happening in the setting.

· Support parents with funding on show arounds and signpost to the childcare choices website, directors can help with assisted claims for disadvantaged 2 year funding, working families claiming 2 year funding or 30 hours funding for 3 and 4 year olds will need to apply for their codes and give to the settings manager where you will need to add onto the masters list.

· Show prospective families around the setting.

· Understand the statutory requirements from the EYFS and ensure this is implemented in the setting.

· Lead OFSTED inspections with the support of a director.

· Liase with outside agencies and work with education partners to spot areas for improvement and keep good or outstanding judgements.

Remember you are not alone and have full support from Angie, Lacy and Georgie and we will always help you with anything in your role, you can delegate some of the roles to other senior members of staff and people in your team if you deem them responsible.
