Apprentice Information Technology Technician:
Pay Scale: £6.40 per hour (based on the National Minimum Wage for an apprentice in their first year)
Hours: 30 per week, Term Time Only
Required: June 2024
Qualification to be Studied: Level 3 ICT Apprenticeship
Duration: Approximately 18 months
Prospects: There may be an opportunity for permanent employment after satisfactory completion of the apprenticeship programme
Treetops Learning Community is looking for an apprentice to join our busy IT support team.
The successful candidate will work as the school receptionist, as part of the admin team, whilst studying for a Level 3 ICT Apprenticeship. You will have one day a week devoted to college work and will be fully supported in your studies by Chelmsford College and your manager within the school.
We are a special academy trust catering for pupils with a wide range of needs including moderate learning difficulties, speech and communication difficulties, autism and general developmental delay. Treetops School has been judged outstanding by Ofsted in our last four inspections, the most recent being February 2020 and Treetops Free School was judged good in its' first inspection in March 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for day to day maintenance of hardware, software and associated peripherals across the school.
- Supporting users and computers in a Windows environment.
- To install and configure computers, and other peripherals.
- Setup and provide support for portable devices, i.e. iPads.
- To troubleshoot problems, hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems.
- Carry out software imaging of workstations using Microsoft Windows Deployment Services (WDS).
- Escalate requests or issues to senior colleagues and /or line manager when a support request cannot be resolved.
- Assist in support of SIMS client software.
- Provide support for computer and non-computer based IT equipment (e.g. interactive boards, printers, A/V equipment etc.)
- Monitor the print management system, PaperCut and resolving user print issues.
- Ensure all copiers and printers are fully stocked with paper and replace empty toner cartridges as necessary.
- Assist in the audit of IT equipment, network port configurations, printers, and A/V equipment.
- Assist in the delivery of strategic IT Projects by working on assigned tasks
Person Specification
- Good IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft office packages e.g. word and excel
- Good interpersonal skills; friendly and outgoing
- Be able to communicate effectively with children and adults
- Polite and professional manner
- Understand the importance of confidentiality
- Be able to work as part of a busy team and also to use initiative
- Be able to prioritise work
Essential Qualifications
English and Maths GCSE level A-C (grade 9-5)
