Classroom Support

Term time only plus 2 days for INSET - 8.30am to 3:45pm Monday - Friday.

West Thurrock Academy has a fantastic opportunity for you to join our dedicated and hardworking Classroom Support Team. West Thurrock Academy are currently looking to employ an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our Classroom Support Team.

We are looking for applicants who:

  • Acts as a role model, setting high expectations of conduct and behaviour.
  • Can think creatively to engage, enthuse and motivate children to learn.
  • Is passionate about supporting all pupils, demonstrating empathy and understanding of different needs.
  • Is confident and able to work with pupils with challenging needs, including social and emotional needs/behaviours.
  • Has a good understanding of the primary curriculum and skills to assist pupils in developing a good standard of attainment.
  • Has a good understanding of how to support children with pastoral needs.
  • Is confident and able to support pupils in small groups and 1:1.
  • Works well as part of a team and has a commitment to improving and developing their own practice.
  • Is an effective communicator with pupils and staff.
  • Possesses good Literacy and Numeracy skills.

West Thurrock Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We ensure through high quality training and development, all staff gain a deep understanding of the expectations of the Keeping Children Safe In Education guidance 2022. All applicants for this post must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers and a DBS check with the Disclosure & Barring Service, health check and two satisfactory references.

Information about the School

West Thurrock Academy is a two-form school which currently has 450 children on role. The school is very spacious with a large hall for P.E, assemblies and school meals, plenty of outdoor learning zones and access to a good-sized field. The school also has a computer suite and Food Technology Room that is used by all classes within the school. The school is open and inclusive, enabling our children to learn and explore in a safe and secure environment.

West Thurrock Academy is a Single Academy Trust with a Governing Body and a Members Board.

The school is currently rated Good with Ofsted, July 2019.
