We have an exciting opportunity at our Enhanced Provision at Spring Meadow Primary School & 'School House' Nursery known as The Harbour. The Harbour provides Social, Emotional and Mental Health support for children in Harwich who currently find the pressures of a busy classroom a little too challenging.

We are a small team, and we are looking for a highly motivated, empathetic and resilient Learning Support Assistant who has recent experience of working with children with special education needs, in particular SEMH. The SEMH Provision Learning Assistants works alongside our Head of Provision and Provision Leader to deliver a personalised curriculum for each child.

This role will provide a year's maternity cover for a member of the team.

The hours of work will be 8.45am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday, term time only (plus INSET days).

The successful candidate will:

  • Be passionate about working children with additional needs and determined to make a difference to the lives of these children
  • Be resilient and prepared to take every day, every hour as a fresh start
  • Have recent experience in developing social and self-regulation skills in primary aged children, with a solid understanding of issues surrounding SEMH and ASD and the challenges this brings for those children
  • Have an understanding of Trauma Perceptive Practice
  • Have an understanding of attachment difficulties and the effects this can have on an individual
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
