Learning Support Assistant and Midday Assistant - Fixed Term Temporary contract to 31st August 2026
Term time only
Vacancy 1 - 4.75 hours a day AM (8.45am-1.30pm) = 23.75 hours a week
Vacancy 2 - 3.75 hours a day PM (11.45am-3.30pm) = 18.75 hours a week
Pay - Scale 3 Point 5
Canvey Island Infant School and Nursery are looking to appoint two enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated LSAs to join our friendly, caring and supportive team. These roles would also involve being part of our brilliant Midday Assistant team.
The successful candidates will be caring and flexible and have:
- Maths and English GCSE grade A-C, or equivalent
- Level 2 qualification in childcare such as NNEB, CACHE, NVQ, BTEC National Diploma or equivalent is desirable, not essential
- Some knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Key Stage One Curriculum
- A good sense of initiative and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work effectively as a team member
- High expectations of all children and themselves
- Effective behaviour management strategies
- The ability to reflect on their practice and always look for ways to improve
- Have the energy and enthusiasm to make a difference
- Experience of adapting the curriculum and supporting children with SEND.
Other duties will include:
- Recording and monitoring children's progress and providing feedback to the class teacher and/or SENDCo.
- Ensuring children's personal needs are met
- Attending training and meetings as required
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties
The Midday Assistant role would involve:
- supporting children during the lunchtime period, particularly those with SEND
- maintaining high standards of behaviour and manners
- setting up and clearing the hall
- leading games and activities with children on the playground
- supervise pupils in dining areas, playgrounds, and during transitions to ensure a safe and positive environment
- reporting any concerns to the designated or deputy designated safeguarding leads.
The successful candidates will have good inter-personal skills and will enjoy working with children and as part of a team.
