The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Colne Community School and College for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our SEND Team.

Our school is a community in which we believe everyone, students and staff alike, should have the opportunity to be nourished and grow. Therefore, we are seeking to recruit a proactive and forward thinking member of staff to enrich the skills and experience already present in our SEND Team. We aim to foster an inclusive culture where everyone is able to learn from each other. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, confident and caring.

We have a brand new teaching block consisting of 8 new classrooms and 4 specialist Design and Technology rooms fully equipped. A further large scale internal refurbishment will be taking place over the 2022/23 academic year which will further improve our school environment for all.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

● To provide full support to teaching staff and students.

● Provide directed classroom support within a subject faculty and across the school where support is needed.

● To be fully aware of the particular difficulties of individual students by referring to records and discussion with SENDCo and/or subject leaders.

● To assist in the preparation of teaching resources for subject areas, in particular to assist with preparation of materials to the needs of individuals or groups of children.

This post is 32 hours and 30 minutes per week, 38 weeks per year + 1 non-pupil day. The stated hours include one half an hour unpaid break.
