We are looking to recruit teachers to work in our growing school from September 2022. We need a 0.6FTE teacher in a complex needs ASD class. Some experience teaching in special schools is preferred, although the right attitude and ability to work with and understand our students need is very important.

Lancaster School is a thriving special school that will have 120 Key Stage 4 and 5 students on roll in September 2022.

The school meets the needs of students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PLMD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), moderate learning difficulties (MLD), neurological impairments and complex needs. The MLD students who attend are those who need additional social and emotional support before going on to college. The vast majority of the students have communication difficulties.

Lancaster is proud to be part of the SEN Trust Southend. As a Trust we are committed to ensuring the welfare and safeguarding of all pupils. All staff will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Closing date for applications: Friday 25th March 2022 at Midday

Visits are encouraged and will take place onTuesday 7th June 2022 at 11am (please contact the school office to book in advance).

Formal interviews will take place onFriday 10th June 2022. Part of the interview process will involve time spent in the classroom which may include some teaching activities.

Information about the School

Lancaster School is an Academy special school for up to 100 students aged 14-19 with a range of complex needs: severe learning difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), neurological impairments, complex physical and medical difficulties, alongside students with moderate learning difficulties, who may need additional social and emotional support before transferring to local colleges at post-19.

Lancaster School is part of the SEN Trust Southend which opened as a formal partnership on 1 September 2017. The four special schools, The St. Christopher School, Kingsdown School, Lancaster School and St. Nicholas School have always worked closely together to create a strong group of special schools which aim to meet the majority of needs of those pupils who require specialist support in a specialist educational school with Southend. We created the Multi-Academy Trust to help us continue this work.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
