Year Manager (Pastoral Support)

Pay Range: Local Government Scale 7 (Point 19 - 24)

Actual Salary From: £22,127

The Role

An opportunity has arisen at Clacton County High School for the support staff pastoral role of Year Manager, forming part of an excellent and dedicated pastoral team primarily supporting students within a specific year group but also extending beyond into the wider school community.

The successful candidate will work alongside an Assistant Year Manager (non-teaching), the Director of Pastoral Care (teaching), Pastoral Leaders (teaching) and an extended team of pastoral colleagues, dealing with a range of day-to-day school related matters in relation to students as well as working closely with senior leaders, other teaching and support staff colleagues, parents and external agencies.

We are looking for a motivated person to complement the current team, to be a role model for our students, supporting those who require assistance in overcoming any barriers to learning so they are able to access the full curriculum in order to achieve their potential.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

• To work with a range of students, giving priority to those who need the most help, especially those students at risk of exclusion from the mainstream school setting and/or experiencing multiple disadvantages.
• To be the first point of contact for parents/carers developing positive and supportive home/school relationships.
• To keep up to date with current educational developments and legislation affecting your area of responsibility.
• To support and monitor student engagement with sanctions, rewards and interventions, informing parents and liaising with other staff as required.
• To work alongside the attendance officer to follow up attendance and punctuality matters and contact or meet with parents as appropriate both in and outside of school through home visits

CCHS is a large, popular and inclusive 11-19 comprehensive school that sits in the heart of our community. We operate across two sites, with colleagues teaching both at Walton Road (11-16) and our sixth form college (16-19), Sigma Sixth, based at the Tendring Education Centre.
