SEPTEMBER 2022 START - A vacancy has arisen at Grays Convent High School for a part-time Science Technician. This is initially a 2 day post with a view to increasing to a four day week in order to replace the current Science Technician's impending retirement.
The main purpose of the role is to:
· To prepare equipment and materials for practical Science lessons to ensure students receive informative , interesting additional support to the Science curriculum
· To support the Science Department, providing practical and safety advice and to promote team development.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a keen interest in Science. You may be returning to work, looking to use your skills to change your occupation or a Science Technician wishing to move location.
The Science Department are a friendly team and would welcome anyone with a serious interest in the role to visit the school and meet the Science Technician for an informal chat to see if this could be your dream job. You can make a difference to students and teachers at Grays Convent by helping them prepare exciting experiments to enthuse and enable students in a bid to promote tomorrow's Doctors and Scientists.
Experience of working within a School Science Department and be COSSH and Cleaps trained would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be provided.
Flexibility is essential in this role as there may be occasions where events require you to be in school at an earlier or later time.
This is a term time only post and includes non-pupil days. You will be contracted for 14 hours per week. Days and times to be discussed at the interview. The post is a Support Staff Band 2 position and the salary range is £6,137 - £6,232 per annum (pay award pending).
