Catering Assistant
Hours: 25 hours per week, 42.6 weeks per year (38 weeks term time + Annual leave)
Work pattern: Monday to Friday
Hours: 5 hours per day (Either 8:00am - 1:00pm or 9:00am to 2:00pm)
Local School Terms and Conditions - Actual Salary £9,851 per annum (£9.25 per hour)
Due to the growth in our Sixth Form, we are looking to appoint an additional Catering Assistant on a part time basis to join our established Catering team.
The Sixth Form has its own small canteen and eating area in the Sixth Form block, which is separate from the main dining room. It has been agreed to extend the catering service for Sixth Formers beyond the school's official school break times and keep the canteen open for a total of five hours per day, which will be 09:00 to 14:00. This will provide our Sixth Formers the opportunity to get food and refreshments during their study periods, as well as at break times.
For the remainder of the school there is a purpose built dining room - which is separate from the serving area - where students can enjoy school meals, or their own packed lunches during the school break times.
Although there is a need to staff the Sixth Form canteen, applicants should be prepared to help in all areas of the kitchen and the various catering locations across the school.
The successful candidate should have:
- Successful experience working in a customer service environment
- Educated to Level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent qualification / experience
- Ability to establish rapport and to maintain respectful and trusting relationships
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- A flexible and adaptable work ethic
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines
- A good understanding of Health and Safety, safeguarding and child protection
- Basic knowledge of First Aid
- A commitment to equality and diversity and inclusion
