Team Leader for Drama TLR2c
Required for September 2021, an inspirational and dedicated professional to lead our Drama Department. At Shenfield High School we admit 10% of students by aptitude for performing arts and sport and have a thriving Junior and Senior Performing Arts Academy.
You will have the ability to lead a talented team of staff. Indeed, you may already have experience of leading a smaller team and want to take your next career step in a school with particular strength in the performing arts. In this role you will teach Drama at KS3, 4 and 5 and be familiar with the requirements of both GCSE Drama and BTEC Performing Arts at both Level 2 and 3. We have an extensive extra-curricular programme in which the successful candidate will be expected to play a full part, including directing or co-directing performances.
Already a very successful department, we are looking for a colleague who can build upon our existing provision and standards, and who is committed to giving our students the best experiences - inside and beyond lessons - to enhance their learning. The Drama Department has a strongly inclusive ethos, which is extended to all students, and we strive towards inspirational work. We are committed to professional development for all staff, including the opportunity to be involved in school-based research.
Shenfield High School retained its "GOOD" Ofsted rating in November 2018. We are a co-educational 11-18 academy school with a commitment to high standards, a holistic approach, student wellbeing and learning for life. We expect all staff to share this philosophy. Shenfield is conveniently and pleasantly situated close to Shenfield mainline station to London Liverpool Street - and what will be the eastern terminus of Crossrail's Elizabeth Line - the towns of Brentwood and Billericay and to the Essex countryside.
An informal discussion with the Headteacher or the Deputy Headteacher who line manages the department can be arranged by contacting the Head's PA, Mrs Christine Watson: c.watson@shenfield.essex.sch.uk
The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share in this commitment. This appointment is subject to an enhanced Disclosure check and positive references.
Application details from the School's website: www.shenfield.essex.sch.uk
Closing date: Friday 16th April at 12 noon.
