Teacher of Design & Technology

Required September 2019 or January 2020

Are you passionate about your subject and about how to engage young people so they achieve their very best? Are you ambitious and do you enjoy working with others to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning in Design and Technology?

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or NQT to join our highly committed, hardworking Design and Technology department. The successful candidate should be DATA accredited for Health and Safety (or capable of undertaking the training). You will be expected to teach across the age and ability range within the school. Staff morale is high at our school; we have an excellent induction programme and a commitment to professional development for all staff. All teaching staff are provided with a laptop.

The successful candidate will be expected to have experience in at least two of the following areas:

Metals
Polymers
Timbers
Design Engineering
Fabrics & Fibres
GCSE Design & Technology
A Level Product Design

Our Design and Technology department is well resourced, all students have access to CAD/CAM facilities and it is embedded at KS3. You will have access to a range of exciting activities including STEM. The successful candidate will want to bring their passion and enthusiasm for Design and Technology to encourage, motivate and engage our students and continue to raise standards in this department.

Our oversubscribed school achieved a 'GOOD' rating in its Ofsted inspection in February 2017 and we have a commitment to supporting students in developing as well-rounded individuals as well as achieving their academic potential.

Specialising in sports since 2004, our sports facilities, teaching expertise and extra-curricular provision are outstanding. Our students enjoy sporting success at district and national level and benefit from an exceptional extra-curricular programme although our ethos is centred on participation for all.
