LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT REQUIRED

SEN support [specialised ASD, Asperger's or ADHD]

Salary: Local Government Payscale, Band 3, within the Range 8-16, depending upon experience £15,174 - £19,219 pro rata per annum, actual salary £11,027.51 - £13,966.79 per annum

Contract Type: 31.25 hours per week, term time plus inset days

Contract Term: Permanent

Lansdowne Primary Academy is part of the larger Gateway Learning Community (GLC): a partnership between one secondary and four primary schools located within Tilbury and Chadwell in the borough of Thurrock to the east of London committed to working together to achieve the highest educational standards for the whole community.

We are looking to appoint a strong, enthusiastic, committed and creative Learning Support Assistant to work within our learning base, 31.25 hours a week. Successful candidates will be required to support the education of students with a diagnosis of ASD, Asperger's or ADHD who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning in a mainstream setting. You will be required to work flexibly taking direction from the class teachers and SENCo in adapting and planning activities to take students' learning forward.

Candidates must be able to carry out and write up necessary observations to inform and evaluate the child's needs. They must be experienced classroom practitioners proactive in dealing with students and identifying groups or individuals who may be falling behind in their learning.

Candidates must be able to use their own initiative and will have the following:

 good standard of education; Maths and English GCSE grades A - C, or equivalent;

 can provide excellent classroom support in literacy, numeracy and behavioural needs;

 good organisation and inter-personal skills;

 good knowledge of ICT;

 be committed to high achievement from students and themselves;

 use specialist knowledge or experience to support students' learning.
