Job Description

TEACHER OF ENGLISH

TLR 2B

Required from September 2017, an enthusiastic and well qualified teacher of English to join a highly successful English Department to lead on KS3 provision and performance with a remit for improving the level of challenge and embedding the new assessment strategy to ensure maximum student progress. A successful candidate would teach English across all Key Stages, including courses in the sixth form.

82% achieved A*-C in English in 2016 and 93% achieved the same in English Literature. In the English element, the overall P8 score is 0.3 (sig +) and the P8 score for disadvantaged students (0.7) puts AES in the top 10% nationally. Four courses are offered in the Sixth form and these are all very popular. At A Level, English Literature achieved ALPS 5 and English Language and Literature achieved ALPS 7. 80% of students achieving 5+ at IBH and IBS.

All members of staff working at the school support the aims and international ethos of the school and participate in the extensive visits programme.
