The performance of all the duties and responsibilities shown below will be under the reasonable direction of the headteacher. Overall Purpose of the Job To support the Headteacher in providing professional leadership for Milton Hall school which strives for success and continuous improvement, ensuring high quality education for all its pupils and improved standards of achievement. It will be supplemented by an annual job plan that lists the key impact and outcomes sought in that year Main Responsibilities In addition to the duties outlined in the School Teachers' Pay and Condition Document currently in operation, or any subsequent legislation, you will be responsible for the following: Leadership Responsibilities · Undertake to the extent required by the headteacher or governing body the professional duties of the headteacher in the event of her absence · Act as manager for Continuing Professional Development for teachers · Act as reviewer for Performance Management · Liaise with the SENCO to organise the deployment of LSAs and participate in their selection · Act as line manager for Phase Leaders and teachers · Carry out admission procedures in partnership with Admissions Officer and EAL Co-ordinator · Handle individual discipline cases and parental complaints/concerns which do not need intervention by the headteacher · Take initial responsibility for the pastoral care and welfare of teachers and LSAs · Co-ordinate the curriculum across the school · Data and Assessment Lead Duties and Responsibilities 1. Strategic direction and development of the school o Support the Headteacher in providing vision, purpose and leadership o Ensure commitment of all involved in the school to it's aims and vision o Monitor and take actions under guidance from the Headteacher 2. Teaching and Learning o Ensure that constructive working relationships are formed between staff and pupils o Assist in maintaining high standards of achievement and behaviour both from staff and pupils o Contribute to the organisation, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum o Contribute to the development of effective links with the community, including business and industry, to extend the curriculum and enhance teaching and learning o Maintain an effective partnership with parents to support and improve pupils' achievement and development o Deal with parental concerns and complaints which have not been resolved by the class teacher or Phase Leader 3. Leading, developing and enhancing the teaching practice of others Working with teachers and Phase Leaders o Maintain personal expertise and share this with other teachers o Act as a role model of good classroom practice for other teachers, modelling effective strategies and supporting them as appropriate o Monitor and evaluate standards of teaching, identifying areas for improvement o Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and the standards of learning and achievement of all pupils in order to set and meet challenging, realistic targets for improvement o Plan and implement strategies to improve teaching where needs are identified o Induct, support and monitor new staff o Contribute to the training and professional development of all staff 5. Effective Deployment of Staff and Resources o Plan, allocate, support and evaluate work undertaken by groups, teams and individuals ensuring clear delegation of tasks and responsibilities o Assist with the recruitment and appointment of staff o Be available for interview panels when appropriate o Induct, support and monitor new staff o Arrange time tables for assemblies, monitoring and in-house CPD o Manage and organise accommodation efficiently and effectively to ensure that it meets the needs of the curriculum and health and safety regulations o Organise the ordering and allocate resources and materials for assessment 6.
