HEAD OF HISTORY, TLR 2b (£4,309), MPS/UPS, London Fringe Pay Scale
Required for January 2016, a dynamic, well-qualified and committed colleague with the vision and skills to lead our History Department.
The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is a school where students achieve well and are part of a strong, caring community. In 2015 39% of A Level grades were A*-B and 97% of BTEC grades were either Distinction* or Distinction. 52% of students achieved 5 or more A* to C grades (including English and Mathematics) and students made good progress in both English and Mathematics.
History is a popular subject within the school; we currently have seven groups in Year 11 and a further six in Year 10. In 2015 61% of students achieved A* - C grades, while 60% made at least expected progress. History is also a popular subject at A level, with two groups in Year 12 and one in Year 13. There are three full time History specialists in the department alongside additional History specialists within the senior team.
Our school's progress was recognised by Ofsted In November 2014 when they stated, "The Headteacher is driving improvement and fostering a culture of high expectations and aspirations". Our students are our greatest ambassadors and it was found that they "…take responsibility as prefects, school councillors and house-captains. They wear their uniforms and their badges for achievement, regular attendance and commitment, with pride."

Information about the School
Our school is making rapid progress since its inspection in November 2022. A recent review by the Local Authority commented on the ‘sea change’ noted in students’ behaviour and the culture and ethos of the school. Our 2023 outcomes were the best set of Key Stage 4 results achieved by Year 11 students since 2016. Our Year 7 intake continues to be oversubscribed, with a waiting list.
