Westwood Academy - Learning Assistant (EYFS Based) - 25 Hours per Week (Term Time Only)

Westwood Academy is a Primary School that leads a multi-academy trust and is focused on improving the lives and education of the children who attend this and our partner schools.

With this in mind, we are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active and experienced EYFS practitioner to work at Westwood Academy in Hadleigh. There is a strong EYFS team in place and so the successful application would have to complement the team and contribute to improving the blend of skills within the group. These might include somebody who:

  • has a pro-active nature and inspires independent learning and enthusiasm;
  • has a good working understanding of the early years curriculum;
  • has experience of assessing against the "Development Matters" statements and the Early Learning Goals;
  • is looking to introduce improved practice in all aspects of the EYFS setting;
  • is approachable, empathetic and understanding of the needs of young children;
  • has an understanding of how to progress young children's learning quickly to the next level or to address gaps in their learning;
  • is able to use their initiative to have an impact on children's development and learning by following children's individual interests and learning needs;
  • has experience or qualifications suitable for working in this environment.

We value our staff. Any new member of the team will be encouraged to pursue training to enable them to improve their own skill set in order to have an impact on the lives of the children that they support. The children at Westwood are fantastic! Any prospective application is welcome to visit the school to see that for themselves. It is a small school, in which everybody knows every child with a close professional attitude of working together to always do the best for the children.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer and welcome applications from appropriately qualified persons regardless of gender, race, religion, disability or age. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory references and enhanced DBS clearance.

If this sounds like something which appeals to you, then call 01702 559467 to arrange a visit, which are encouraged by all applicants - we are proud of the school and the children and are keen to share this pride with visitors.
