Job Title: Welfare Officer and Lunchtime Supervisor
Grade: Band 2 to midpoint (starting salary £15207 pro rata, term time only)
15 hrs per week over 5 days
Reports to: Line Manager/Headteacher
The successful candidate will undertake Fist Aid training and take responsibility for theadministration of medicines prior to lunchtime break. To followschool policy with regard to recording and reporting the administration of medicines and first aid. Ideally the applicant will have supervisory experience, overseeing the existing MDAs in checking rotas and leading the MDA team.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring person with a positive approach to behaviour management who will:
- ensure there is adequate supervision of pupils in all areas of the school building and grounds where pupils are permitted access during the lunchtime break;
- respect confidentiality at all times, ensuring confidential information relating to pupils and the school is respected by the midday assistants;
- communicate instructions from the line manager, office staff or Headteacher to midday assistants;
- take the lead in dealing with minor accidents and to report any serious incidents to their line manager, enforcing agreed sanctions for maintaining good order;
- lead games and activities with the children and support the Playleader's in fulfilling their role
- have experience working with children, though training will be given for specific duties;
- follow the school's Steps to Success to support behaviour at all times;
- be responsible for the safe return of all pupils to the care of the teachers at the end of the midday break;
- work with the kitchen and caretaking staff to ensure the clearance of the school hall after lunch, ensuring furniture and floors are clear of spillages etc;
- understand and ensure that school policies in relation to health, safety, welfare and behaviour are adhered to;
- comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health and safety in the workplace;
This is a new role intended to enhance the provision of high quality supervision and the smooth running of the Midday team. Any additional meetings or training are by arrangement and attendance will be paid. For the suitable candidate there may be the opportunity to increase the number of hours per week.
