The Ongar Academy is a school with a strong STEM focus. We are a brand new non fee-paying 11-18 mixed community school opening in Ongar in September 2015. Built on the principle of offering opportunity for all to achieve at the very highest level, this school will be an amazing place to learn and to teach.

Our motto 'Affectare ad Optimum' translates as 'Aspire to Greatness' and that is precisely what you will be doing alongside our inspiring Headteacher, our parents and the initial intake of 120 Year 7 students. With the new Sixth Form opening in 2017, we will grow gradually and organically to our full roll of 800 students over the next few years.

We are progressing well with our plans and are currently finalising proposals with the Education Funding Agency to build brand new facilities that will bring secondary education back to Ongar for the first time in over two decades. Support from the community has been overwhelming and interest from parents and students alike has delighted us all. This is a school with high expectations. These expectations will be shared by our founding staff team.

An outstanding practitioner, your mastery of your subject will be matched by your passion for raising attainment and ability to inspire excellence in students and colleagues alike. Ambitious and committed to improve, you will be an integral part of the development of this new school taking on responsibilities that will give you an excellent preparation for Deputy Headship.

We expect all our staff to be strong leaders. Recognising that the best results are delivered by a staff team working in concert, the Headteacher and Governing Body are committed to supporting you at every stage, providing you with appropriate CPD and remuneration that only the best in their field should command. In addition, you will have the chance to be in at the start of what promises to be an extraordinary journey for all involved.
