Assistant Headteacher - KS1

Briscoe Primary is a good school with outstanding leadership and management (OFSTED July 14). We are now looking for an outstanding teacher who can lead KS1 (4 classes). In 2014 Key stage one pupils at Briscoe met national expectations at all levels and pupils are increasingly reaching higher levels. Briscoe works as part of the HEARTS Academy Trust and is now a partner in the Wickford Teaching School alliance. This is currently a non class-based post with a whole school responsibility for phonics. There are two other assistant Heads who are also non class-based. The successful candidate will

  • Be an outstanding class teacher with a track record of successful outcomes for their pupils, who understands and cares about children with a desire to provide excellence in academic, social and emotional learning opportunities

  • Show understanding of how to use data to lever improvement in all areas of learning

  • Lead and manage staff with resilience, humour, care and high expectations

  • Join a strong senior leadership team which is supportive, knowledgeable and has high aspirations for themselves, the school, the pupils and families that they serve

  • Provide outreach to other schools and support partner schools, as well as the schools that join the expanding Trust

  • Take a role in the development of the teaching school and support its growth

  • Support a group of highly committed and young teaching staff who are keen to grow and develop

  • Have a clear track record of successful leadership

The school provides education for children from the ages of 2-7 in the local area.
