Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School
Learning Support Assistant / Higher Level Teaching Assistant
September 2022 start
Salary - dependent on experience

An exciting role has become available at Sacred Heart School - we are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) or Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. Sacred Heart Primary School and Nursery has been a consistently good school for many years and have a friendly, dedicated and supportive team of staff. Our children are well behaved and enjoy coming to a school where everyone belongs. There is a strong sense of community.
Ideally, candidates will have recent experience of supporting children in a primary classroom environment / EYFS setting, working both with small groups and individuals, delivering interventions either on a 1:1 or in small groups. However, training will be available for the successful candidate.

For the role of Learning Support Assistant:
The post will involve working and supporting pupils with additional needs, along with some responsibilities for supporting the learning of other pupils and groups across a class setting. Ideally, we are seeking someone who has experience of working with, understanding and supporting children and who knows that teaching and learning is really important.

For the role of Higher Level Teaching Assistant:
You will be required to complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under the supervision of a qualified teacher. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups or for whole classes and monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on pupil's achievement, progress and development. The successful candidates do not have to have their HLTA qualification but will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of leading, at some level, within the classroom.

Successful applicants need to be able to support the demands of the school curriculum, having excellent literacy, numeracy and communication skills. We need someone who will be committed to our school and will be able to work closely as part of our outstanding team of people. We need someone who will thrive when working with children and be flexible, ready to do any reasonable task and be prepared to learn a range of new skills.
Applicants need to be sympathetic and supportive of the school's Catholic ethos (applications are invited from non-Catholic as well as Catholic staff).
The position will be from 08.30-15.30, with a half-hour lunch break Monday to Friday, term time only.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed, in line with COVID-secure arrangements.
