Vacancy Position - Nursery Assistant & Midday Assistant. Part time lunch hour + afternoons only
Location - Hamstel Infant School & Nursery, Hamstel Road, Southend-on-Sea, Essex SS2 4PQ
Salary - Salary Range: Level 3, Points 3 to 5 £18,887 to £19,650 pro rata
Hours of work - 20 hours per week, 11.30am to 12.30pm Midday Assistant role, plus 12.30pm to 3.30pm Nursery Assistant role, term time only plus INSET days
Start Date - 1st September 2022
About the Role/s
We are looking to appoint a Midday & Nursery Assistant for our large Infant and Nursery school. Hamstel Infant School and Nursery prides itself on being a child focused, caring, inclusive community; one in which all stakeholders views are valued. The successful applicant will hold a relevant level 3 qualification and have a minimum of 2 years' experience of working in a Nursery environment. This position would be ideal for someone looking to enter a school Nursery environment as it would provide invaluable experience of working with children within a school setting. We are an inclusive nurturing school with excellent facilities for Outdoor Learning.
The main scope of the Nursery Assistant job will be:
To work in partnership with other adults in the Nursery to support social, emotional, educational and welfare needs of nursery / early years children in line with early years goals, codes of practice and school policies and procedures. Duties will include:
· Shared responsibility for safety, health and welfare of children at all times
· Following instructions form the Key Worker / Teacher
· Organising materials and equipment for use within the Nursery
· Contributing to curriculum development ensuring a stimulating environment
· Ensuring all children have access to the full curriculum.
The main scope of the Midday job will be:
· To maintain the safety, welfare and good conduct of the pupils during the midday break.
· To assist children in selecting their meal and sitting in an appropriate place in the Infant hall.
· To assist children with eating their meal if appropriate.
· To clear tables when meals are finished and clear up any associated spillages.
· To enforce the schools' behaviour expectations for maintaining good order.
· To administer basic first aid as required.
· To keep daily records of first aid administered, behaviour and sanctions employed together with any other relevant records that may be needed.
· To provide pastoral care and guidance.
· Where necessary and appropriate, to lead games and activities with the children.
· To alert the Senior Midday Assistant (SMDA) and or the Headteacher of any concerns regarding an individual child or group of children.
· To understand and apply school policies in relation to health, safety, safeguarding, welfare and behaviour of pupils.
· To attend relevant training and meetings as required.
· To respect confidentiality at all times.
