MUSIC TUTOR (GUITAR)

Salary: £25.95 per hour plus paid annual leave entitlement

Hours: Dependent on student numbers, term time only (36 weeks per year).

Start Date: 01 September 2022

Required for September 2022, we are looking to recruit a Music Tutor of Guitar.

Each year students sign up for a whole year of lessons, with an option for those in exam years (11 & 13) to finish their lessons at the beginning of study leave in May. This means that the teacher knows at the beginning of the year how much teaching they will have, and how much they will be paid, for the whole year.

The hours will be dependent on the number of students wishing to study on the guitar. In 2021/22 there are 4.5 hours of teaching on either classical, bass or electric guitar per week.

The Music School was purpose-built in 2001 and provides an outstanding level of accommodation for the department. It has a large rehearsal room which doubles as a recital hall (seating 200) and a classroom. There is also a second, full-size classroom, a recording studio, kitchen and store room on the ground floor. On the second floor is a large office, two store rooms and five practice rooms.

Due to our stringent safeguarding protocol, applications for employment at KEGS can only be accepted on our formal Recruitment Application Form.

An application form is available to download from our website www.kegs.org.uk, or by emailing recruitment@kegs.org.uk. Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 12 noon on Monday 06 June 2022. Interviews will be held shortly afterwards.

King Edward VI Grammar School demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding children.

Information about the School

King Edward VI Grammar School is a selective boys' state school with a mixed Sixth Form and an exceptional academic and extra-curricular reputation based in Chelmsford. As a school specifically providing specialist education to very able young people, there is a strong focus on academic achievement, with the vast majority of students (both those boys who join in Year 7, and students, including girls, who join for the sixth form) going on to top universities. There is a serious work ethic at KEGS which derives from highly motivated students and dedicated staff. Recent results have put us near the top of national GCSE and A level rankings, and 23 students who left us in Summer 2019 gained places at Oxford or Cambridge and a further 23 went on to study medicine at university. However, league tables are not our guiding principle – we value breadth of study as well. We also focus significant effort on the progress of students who may find a particular subject area more challenging than others, and we have an extensive programme of mentor support.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
