Attendance Officer
Pay:Scale 5 Point 8 (range 8-11)
Actual Salary: £17,796 - £18,886
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week / 39 weeks per year
Due to the continuing growth of the school, we seek to appoint an energetic individual who will be responsible for the operational and administrative support to promote whole school attendance strategies in order to improve attendance levels and reduce persistent absence, in line with academy targets.
The ideal candidate will be solution focused, have excellent communication skills, be organised, able to remain calm in a busy environment and have the ability to motivate and engage our students and families. Ideally, you will have previous experience of working with students and families within an education environment.
To be successful in this rewarding role, you will need to be extremely well organised, have the ability to prioritise work and ensure that strict deadlines are met. The ability to work on your own initiative and work within existing teams is essential. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be able to remain calm in a busy environment whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Strong IT skills and practical experience of using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, are essential for this role. Experience within a school attendance role is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
● Relentlessly seek to improve the attendance of students at the academy, in order to meet targets, set by the Trust
● Work alongside other pastoral colleagues, Senior Leaders and Heads of Year to plan and implement strategies that will improve the behaviour, attendance and attainment of individual and targeted groups of students.
● Attend meetings with parents/carers and multi-agency meetings, when appropriate.
● Monitor and analyse attendance data daily to identify areas of concern and act accordingly to improve the figures.
● Produce and send letters regarding lateness and attendance / truancy.
● Undertake home visits to support parents/carers, encourage students to come into school and discuss the link between absence and attainment.
● Advise parents/carers about the legal process if their child becomes a persistent absentee.
We're looking for you if you have:
● A good standard of education (ideally Maths/English GCSE grade A* to C or equivalent);
● Experience of working in a school environment or in a supervisory role with young people will be an advantage;
● A commitment to high standards of achievement from students and yourself;
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to act on your own initiative;

Paxman Academy opened in September 2019 and admitted 180 Year 7 students in the first year.
