The Philip Morant School & College

Philip Morant is a popular mixed comprehensive in north-east Essex. It is a happy school in which students feel nurtured, achieve highly and are well prepared for the next stage of their education. We have made significant progress since our last Ofsted inspection, including three sets of fantastic examination results. Over the last three years students have performed well, with more students achieving strong passes (grade 5+) in both English and Maths.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Design & Technology Technician on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2021.

This is an exciting time to join the school & college based in Colchester, Essex. The school benefits from being part of a large, multi-academy Trust of local schools, which affords opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired.

You will be supported by an experienced team of teachers, as well as the Trust's Education team.

The Role:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and organised Technician to support our Design Technology Department.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Working weeks: 40weeks per year (term time (38 weeks) plus inset days (5 days) and an additional week working during school closure periods)

Start Date:As soon as possible

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

● Maintenance, servicing and repair of equipment

● Organising and storing of equipment

● Prepare materials for practical lesson

● Providing support in the classroom

● Assisting with classroom demonstrations

● Up-to-date awareness Health & Safety regulations and codes of practice

● Management of resources and the environment

● Stock checking

● Administration tasks

● The successful candidate will have experience in a Design Technology or construction industry environment and have excellent organisational skills.

We're looking for you if you have:

● A good standard of education (GCSE Level or equivalent);

● Ability to engage with young people

● Knowledge and interest in design technology

● Knowledge of stock management/maintenance.
