Role: Learning Support Assistant
Contract: Permanent
Pay Scale: LG Scale 3 Points 4-5
Working hours: 31 hours per week, term time time only - however part time applications will be considered
Actual annual salary: From £13,477
Start Date - As soon as possible
We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to enhance the learning of students who have a wide range of social and emotional needs. Applicants must be friendly, enthusiastic and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage.
The Deanes is a small secondary school and you will become part of a positive, aspirational team that treats each student as an individual and values the contribution of its LSA's who help KS3 and KS4 students to fulfil their potential.
The role:
- Working with individuals or small groups of children in collaboration with teaching staff;
- Proactively supporting students with activities designed to enhance numeracy and literacy;
- Promoting positive behaviour, raising esteem and encouraging an aspirational culture;
- Working with SEN students to foster their development as independent learners.
You will need:
- A good standard of education (ideally Maths/English GCSE grade A* to C or equivalent);
- An understanding of how social and emotional triggers prompt behaviour responses and how to reduce the impact of these;
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to act on your own initiative.

The Deanes is well situated in South East Essex, with good links to public transport. We are situated within ten minutes of Benfleet and Rayleigh Rail Stations, where a 45 minute train journey will take you into London. There is also ample car parking onsite.
