Head of English & Media Faculty

The Boswells School is looking to appoint a Head of English & Media Faculty. You will lead the Faculty, working within a team that includes a Deputy Head of Faculty with responsibility for Key Stage 4, a Lead Practitioner, Key Stage 3 and 5 Co-ordinators and a Head of Film and Media Studies to ensure our students get an outstanding education in English and Media subjects. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high quality lessons and to develop an already strong team.

The Boswells School is an 11-18, very successful, popular and oversubscribed school in the Springfield area of Chelmsford, Essex. Our results at GCSE and A-level are consistently excellent and make us one of the highest performing non-selective schools in Essex. Within the Faculty, we deliver English Language and English Literature at GCSE and A-level, Film Studies at GCSE and Media Studies at A-level.

You will be joining a school with enthusiastic and dedicated leaders at senior and middle leadership levels and a commitment to the professional development of staff and, as part of the role, will be offered the opportunity to experience being part of the School's Leadership Team.

This post has arisen due to the promotion of the previous postholder, who has moved into Assistant Headship. The Boswells School is keen to embrace an approach that is centered on teaching and learning and the academic attainment for our students. English is a fundamental element of our curriculum for all students and the role will allow you to help shape the strategic direction of the Faculty and the School.

The Boswells School is a large 11-18 secondary school that serves the area of north Chelmsford. The school is an extremely popular, over-subscribed convertor academy that enjoys an excellent reputation in the local and wider community. We were graded ‘Good’ in every area by OFSTED in February 2017 and are working towards our goal of becoming a truly great school.
