Learning Mentor

Are you an experienced Learning Mentor looking for a new challenge? If yes, The Phoenix Primary School & Nursery would love to hear from you. We are an Outstanding three-form entry school and we are looking to appoint two Learning Mentors to join our incredible school. The Learning Mentors will be required to provide 1:1 support assisting in the classroom and also working with small groups of children to enable them to achieve their full potential. Working with the wider community, this is also an ideal opportunity for those with hidden talents wishing to share their skills to add to our variety of after schcool clubs ensuring our children have access to a rich and broad curriculum. You will be working closely with the Class Teacher, SENCo and Inclusion Manager/Family Liaison Officer.

The successful applicant should demontrate the following skills and attributes:-

• a good standard of Maths and English or equivalent, both written and spoken
• the ability to extend the children's learning and develop their critical thinking through skilled questioning
• confident in making judgements about children's abilities and provide insightful and useful observations
• maintain appropriate and accurate records of assessment
• have creative ideas which can be contributed to the planning of activities
• have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills plus be able to multitask
• demonstrate high expectations of achievement for all pupils
• ability to work as part of a team, but to act independently if required
• have a range of strategies for supporting the inclusion of a child with additional learning needs
• have a warm and positive approach towards all children, staff and carers
• grood sense of humour

This is a public facing role and therefore the successful candidate must speak fluent English.
