The Karalius Foundation is an SEMH independent school that provides education from KS3 - KS4 pupils. Our curriculum is unique offering qualifications that are designed specifically for our school and cohort of learners. We will offer intense mentoring and support for pupils, placing them in a class with a maximum of 5 pupils.

We have high expectations of our pupils; build a secure and happy atmosphere in which pupils can learn effectively.
As a Art teacher you will be involved in delivering class based art lessons and project-based learning with particular emphasis on creativity. You will work as part of an outstanding team to deliver an exciting and engaging curriculum.


Teaching and Learning Responsibilities

1. Plan and teach inspirational, specialist and highly differentiated lessons using a therapeutic approach to learning
2. In consultation with the Head of Foundation, to plan, design and produce teaching materials and resources which are appropriate to age and ability and are in accordance with the school Development Plan

3. Make accurate and productive use of assessment to promote good progress

4. Provide a stimulating and well-structured learning environment suitable for pupils with SEMH difficulties
5. in accordance with scheme of work, plan, deliver and review lessons which are appropriate to the age and ability of the students so as to facilitate progression in students' learning

6. Keep abreast of developments in the National Curriculum and work with colleagues to establish the overall curriculum for the school including outdoor learning

7. Play a full and active role in the development of the school including individual and whole school improvement

8. Participate in and take responsibility for your continuing personal professional development

9. Support the school through developing a consistent approach to behaviour management, teaching and learning, marking, assessment etc. following relevant school policies

10. Promote pupil progress through the effective deployment and coordination of support staff including mentors and learning facilitators

General


1. Contribute to the accurate and appropriate use and maintenance of up-to-date recording systems including those related to attendance, behaviour, progress and learning etc.

2. To undertake annual reviews and contribute information to students undergoing EHCP process

3. To communicate with parents about everyday issues in school

4. To be responsible for a specific tutor group and the registration of students

5. Demonstrate a critical understanding of strategies, processes and developments within SEND and reflect this understanding in daily practice

6. Carry out any other duties appropriate to the level expected of a teacher paid SEN points

7. Take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself, other persons and resources whilst at work

8. Cooperate with the leadership and management of the school as far as is necessary to enable the responsibilities placed upon it under the Health and Safety at Work Act to be performed e.g. operate safe working practices

9. You will be expected to carry out your duties in line with policies, procedures and relevant legislation. You will be made aware of these in your appointment letter, statement of particulars, induction, ongoing performance management and development

10. You are required to promote and actively support the school's responsibilities towards safeguarding. Safeguarding is about keeping both our students and yourself safe and protecting young people from harm, neglect, abuse and injury. It is about creating safe places, being vigilant and doing something about any concerns you might have. It isn't just about the very old and the very young, it is about everyone who may be vulnerable.
