Brentwood School is seeking to recruit an outstanding Teacher of English to join this high performing School. We are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified graduate to teach English in our well-equipped department. The successful candidatewill be a perceptive and reflective practitioner in the classroom, committed to
promoting academic excellence and embracing innovative teaching techniques. They will also be adynamic communicator who has a demonstrable enthusiasm for their subject and aproven ability to inspire and motivate pupils at all stages.

The successful candidate will be able to teach English at KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, A Level. They will join a dynamic and thriving department staffed by fourteen full and part-time teachers. The department is excellently resourced with books, teaching materials and ICT equipment. English is a very popular choice of subject in the Sixth Form, where English is studied either as an A Level or within the IDBP programme.

The School and the senior management team are strongly supportive of English and recognise the important role it plays in the intellectual life of the whole School community. A variety of reading groups, public-speaking, debating events, theatrical expeditions contribute to the life of the department within the School.

The role involves teaching English throughout the School. The successful candidate will be expected to inspire and engage pupils with the outstanding quality of his or her teaching and the individualised support offered outside the classroom. All teaching staff are expected to play a full part in the wider life of the School through co-curricular involvement.
