Behaviour for Learning Mentor

37 hours per week - 43.7 weeks per year

Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:00 and Friday 07:30 to 15:30 (with one hour lunch)

£21,036 per annum (£13.01 per hour - pay review pending)

We are seeking to appoint an additional Behaviour for Learning Mentor to join our established team within our pastoral / learning support areas to provide support in a withdrawn setting to KES students who are most in need of this type of support. This will have a positive impact on other students, teaching in classes and the work of staff who support other students around the school. The successful postholder will work together with the other four Behaviour for Learning Mentors on managing those students who are consistently disruptive in lessons and who need mentoring depending upon their individual needs and barriers to learning in order to promote effective participation, enhance individual learning, raise aspirations and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will have:

· Experience of working within a school environment;

· Good working knowledge and understanding of the curriculum;

· Educated to Level 4 (A Level) or equivalent qualification /experience;

· Ability to establish rapport and to maintain respectful and trusting relationships;

· Ability to overcome barriers to learning with students by implementing school policies, procedures and identified support mechanisms;

· Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills;

· Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines;

· Ability to be flexible and adaptable to various challenging situations

· Evidence of successful behaviour management strategies

· A good understanding of Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Child Protection;

· A commitment to equality and diversity and inclusion

The ability to promote a positive, optimistic attitude to learning and achievement within the school, with students, families and the wider community is essential, as well as demonstrating the effective management of students to ensure they meet their targets and deadlines and achieve their 'personal best'. A commitment to continuing professional development and gaining relevant qualifications is a prerequisite.
