We are looking to appoint an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our 'friendship' school for September 2020.

The successful applicant will work primarily with a year 4 child whom has just received an EHCP. They have significant anxiety around attending school, associated with attachment and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). The child has additional ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), and delayed learning which further impacts their self-esteem.

This child will require a graduated transition back in to school in September and we are therefore looking to appoint someone who can be flexible with their working pattern. Initially we will be looking for support across the morning with an additional weekly extended reward/creative activity afternoon on a Friday to support a positive experience and encourage their return to school the following week. We plan to extend support across the school day.

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday to Thursday

8:45 - 12:15pm and 1:00-3:15pm on a Friday

Applicants would benefit from experience of using strategies to support children with anxiety, attachment, need for control, low self-esteem and low level academic abilities.

The successful candidates will ideally:

  • Be passionate about supporting pupils with SEND
  • Be flexible in their approach
  • Be able to engage and motivate children to learn
  • Have a good sense of humour
  • Enjoy being physically active
  • Have an enthusiasm for nature, animals and outdoor learning opportunities
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be able to work in partnership with outside agencies
  • Have experience of supporting pupils with additional needs within a primary classroom
  • Work well as part of a team, as well as show initiative and an ability to work independently

As part of our 'friendship' school, we can offer you;

  • Enthusiastic children, proud of their achievements and whose behaviour is excellent.
  • A creative curriculum approach.
  • A talented, hardworking and dedicated team of teaching and support staff.
  • An encouraging and challenging governing body who are proud of their school.
  • A supportive church and local community.
  • A school with excellent facilities and extensive grounds.
  • A happy, caring environment in which all members of the school community are valued.

This post is fixed term only for the duration of the child's attendance at the school.

Due to the current national situation with regards to Covid-19, we are unable to offer school visits. However, we advise candidates to visit our school website in the first instance, in particular our weekly newsletters. The SENCo is also willing to talk to any interested candidates over the phone and this is strongly advised.
