Special Educational Needs and Disability Co-ordinator (SENDCO)

Start date: September 2020

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated and inspiring SENDCO to join our dedicated, friendly staff team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or aspiring SENDCO who is passionate about inclusion and has the ability to create a positive impact.

The role is mainly non-class based, directing a team of learning support assistants and managing intervention programmes, although some teaching in the form of team-teaching, modelling strategies and approaches and group work will be required. The position is part time, 3 days a week.

The successful candidate will:

· Become part of the Senior Leadership Team and have strategic responsibility for SEND/Inclusion across the school.

· Hold the National SENCO Qualification or be seeking to undertake the accreditation.

· Have the ability to effectively lead a team and build positive relationships with colleagues and families.

· Have high expectations of children's achievements and behaviour.

· Be committed to the success of the school and be willing to support the Christian ethos.

Southminster C of E Primary School is located about 3 miles from Burnham on Crouch and 10 miles southeast from Maldon. St Leonard's Church is located in the centre of the town and lies close to Southminster C of E Primary School. The school enjoys a close relationship with the church. At Southminster School we all work together to recognise individual needs and support every child. We firmly believe that collective worship is an integral part of our community and through it, our children develop spiritually, morally and socially. Our class teachers are supported by an experienced team of Teaching Assistants who also take on additional responsibilities within the school together with an efficient and dedicated team of administrative staff.
