College Football Lead

Required September 2020

We are seeking to appoint a permanent part-time College Football Lead with effect from September 2020. The role will report to the Faculty Leader for Physical Education to further develop the progressive leadership programme within the Football College. The role will include coaching, academic monitoring and bespoke career education information advice and guidance for all members of the football college.

The post offers an excellent opportunity to work within in a highly successful 11-19 academy which holds good Ofsted status. The academy has a strong collaborative ethos, is very supportive and well-planned schemes of learning for all courses are already in place. A faculty-based mentor will work with the appointee to support their development and induction in their first year. There is also an excellent academy-wide support and development programme for all new staff.

Personal Qualities

The successful applicant should hold an FA Level 2 Coach qualification with additional UEFA Licences being desirable. Applicants should have experience of planning and delivering coaching lessons and have had experience of coaching children and young people and running football tournaments.

Applicants should be hardworking, enthusiastic and have high levels of commitment. They should be able to plan, deliver and assess high-quality learning experiences for all learners in their care and deploy a range of strategies to support their personal development.

Experienced candidates should be able to demonstrate a highly successful track-record of football coaching.

Responsibilities of the Post-Holder

In accordance with the job description for College Football Lead, the key responsibilities will be as follows:

Coaching: to plan and deliver high quality, safe, and enjoyable ability specific coaching sessions that are both structured and progressive.
Academic Monitoring: to effectively monitor and track the academic progress and attainment of all members of the Football College.
Post-18 Advice and Guidance: to provide bespoke 'Career Education, Information, Advice and Guidance' (CEAIG) for all members of the Football College.
Wider Contribution

Staff are encouraged to contribute to the academy's rich extra-curricular programme, and all candidates will be provided with the opportunity to discuss their personal interests at interview.

As one of the largest educational establishments in Essex, there are many opportunities for career progression. Via an academy-wise coaching programme, staff are encouraged to take responsibility for their own career development, with full support and encouragement from their line managers and other relevant staff, including those responsible for staff training.

Remuneration

Annual salary for the College Football Lead will be in accordance with the academy Local Government Pay Scale, which for appointment for a full time post currently involves a salary of up to £29,578 pro-rata (Band 4 Point 31-34 20/21 pay awards), however, actual salary offered will be £14,603, pro rata equivalent of point 31, term time only (21.5 hour per week, 39 weeks per annum) including an allowance for holiday pay. Salaries are reviewed by national negotiation with effect from 1st April each year. Progression through the pay scale is subject to an acceptable annual performance development review process.

The hours of work for the role are as follows:

· Monday - 1.00 pm - 5.00 pm

· Tuesday - 1.00 pm- 5.00 pm

· Wednesday - 11.00 am - 5.00 pm

· Thursday - 1.00 pm - 5.00 pm

· Friday - 1.00 pm - 5.00 pm
