Dr Walker’s Church of England Primary School is a small village Voluntary Controlled community school, in the heart of Fyfield, Ongar. We might be small, but have a lot to offer!

We are a creative school, where pupils are supported to become the best they can be. Pupils access the curriculum through additional fun activities such as dressing up days, hatching ducks, circus workshops, visiting zoo, residentials, initiatives, etc. and where appropriate participation in sporting events with local schools. Our school website evidences all our fun activities in the weekly newsletters (do have a look at how we are having fun, whilst learning!).

Our school aims to be An Exceptional Place to Flourish, where we work together to grow, progress, achieve and develop to become well-balanced British and global citizens; aspiring to live a life in all its fullness and to succeed. Our associated Christian Values aligned with the fundamental British Values.

The school has had a number of improvements over the last two years, inclusive of: • The building of two new classrooms (with aircon) • new playground multi-sports markings • multi-sports goalposts • an adventure trail • classrooms have been re-decorated • new access to KS2 classrooms • EYFS has had a make-over (inside and out!) and • new fencing to secure the school’s main entrance.

Why consider working at Dr Walker's? • We have smaller than usual class sizes and host year groups in mixed classes. • We seek excellence by ensuring a safe, dignified, and respectful learning environment, where diversity, differences, talents, and interests are celebrated. • We pride ourselves in our amazing, friendly and well-behaved pupils. • We believe that every school day counts and that every child is valued, nurtured and cared for. • Being affiliated with the Church of England, we preserve and develop its Christian ethos, principles and character and work in partnership with the local church (St Nicholas) and the Diocese of Chelmsford. • We emphasise the importance of dignity, respect, honesty, kindness, courtesy and consideration. • We have a very supportive Governing Body. • We place a high premium on staff well-being and teamwork. • We have a creative, highly motivated, passionate and hardworking group of staff. • We offer CPD opportunities through accredited training.

Please note that we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils and expect all those who work with us to share this commitment. Successful applicants will need to undertake a DBS Enhanced Clearance check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
