Teacher of Drama - 0.8

Required for January 2020, an inspirational and dedicated teacher to join our Drama Department. This could be for either two terms or a permanent appointment for the right candidate. A full time appointment will be required from September 2020.

You will have the ability to teach Drama at KS3, 4 and 5 and be familiar with the requirements of both GCSE Drama and BTEC Performing Arts at both Level 2 and 3. We have an extensive extra-curricular programme in which the successful candidate will be expected to play a full part, including the opportunity to get involved in directing performances.

We are looking for a colleague committed to giving our students the best classroom experiences to enhance their learning. The Drama department has a strong inclusive ethos, which is extended to all students and we strive towards inspirational work. Our Sixth Form Performing Arts Academy and our Junior Performing Arts Academy are distinctive features of the department. We admit up to 10% of our students because of their aptitude for performing arts or sport.

Shenfield High School achieved a "GOOD" rating in its Ofsted inspection in November 2014. We are a co-educational 11-18 academy school with a commitment to high standards, a holistic approach, student wellbeing and learning for life. We expect all staff to share this philosophy. Shenfield is conveniently and pleasantly situated close to a mainline station into London Liverpool Street, the towns of Brentwood and Billericay and to the Essex countryside.

This post is suitable for new entrants to the profession as well as more experienced teachers. We have an excellent NQT induction programme and a commitment to professional development for all staff.

An informal discussion with the Headteacher can be arranged by contacting the Head's PA, Mrs Christine Watson: c.watson@shenfield.essex.sch.uk
