Teacher (Reception - Year 6) Part-time, with the possibilityof Full-time- (boys' sport specialist)

Widford Lodge is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic teacher for January 2020, to deliver excellent teaching to our small classes of well-motivated children - primarily focusing on our sports provision but also in the classroom.

Part-time role, 3 days per week (with the possibility of a full time role).

The successful candidate will be a well‐qualified and passionate professional and will be expected to contribute to the wider life of the school and its community, including matches, extra-curricular activities and clubs.

Opportunity
Exciting opportunity for a specialist sports teacher to join our outstanding sports department teaching highly motivated pupils from Reception to Year 6. Also to teach some classroom subjects at KS2 level.

Sport has an important role at Widford Lodge andis an integral part of the rounded education we provide, offering challenges and leadership opportunities to all of our pupils.

We have a nine-acre field and floodlit tennis court.

Through sport, we aim to create an understanding of the values and ideals of good sportsmanship and commitment. Rugby, football, cricket, netball and hockey are our main team sports. Athletics, swimming, tennis, gymnastics, dance and outdoor pursuits are also part of the sports curriculum. Regular inter-school fixtures are arranged to encourage the spirit of competition, teamwork and achievement. Our annual sports tour for senior teams is a highlight of the school year.

Opportunity
For January 2020, Widford Lodge is looking for a talented and enthusiastic teacher, with outstanding inter-personal skills, to teach boys' sport and other classroom subjects throughout the school. An additional responsibility may be available for the right candidate.

The Sports Department teaches a full range of sports across the year groups. We offer a range of sports clubs including rugby, fencing, tennis, rugby, netball, cricket and fitness.

  • University Graduate
  • Qualified Primary teacher with an ability to teach Sport and other subjects across KS1 and KS2
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Motivation to work with young people
  • Positive attitude and approach to change and development
  • Willingness to participate in and expectation of contribution to the wider life of our school and extra-curricular life, including matches, activities and extra-curricular clubs
  • The ability to support the pastoral needs of our pupils

At Widford Lodge we have around 220 pupils and have been instilling a love of learning in pupils between the ages of 2 ½ and 11 for over 85 years.
