29 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (i.e. term time only)

Actual Salary: £12,420.73 - £13,713.27

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated Assistant SENCo, focused on developing engaging learning experiences for students across the 11-16 age range.

The primary role of the Assistant SENCo will be to support the day-to-day operational work of the SENCo. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting in the following areas:

  • managing the provision for children with special educational needs within school
  • adapting the curriculum to the needs of the child
  • professional development of the SEND Team
  • leading on all SEND Numeracy interventions

The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner, committed to improving the outcomes and experiences for students at Alec Hunter, and be able to command the respect of colleagues, students and parents. He or she must also be resourceful and keen to ensure that the highest possible standards of student achievement, personal development and well-being are maintained. The ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, and to form positive relationships with young people, is essential.

Alec Hunter Academy is a mixed, 11-16 comprehensive school, graded 'good' by Ofsted in 2017, with an established reputation as a warm and welcoming community. The school works in partnership with Saffron Walden County High School, one of the highest performing schools in Essex, through its membership of the Saffron Academy Trust.
