We are looking to appoint a caring, patient and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide support in our Early Years class for an endearing child with a EHCP.

Ideally you will have an understanding of the Early Years curriculum and experience of working with a range of additional needs. This role requires the successful candidate to carry out intimate care duties, follow advice from the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapy Service as well as the Speech and Language Therapy Service.

Overview of duties

You will work closely with members of staff within the Early Years classroom to ensure that the targeted child is supported to achieve the outcomes set in the Education, Health and Care Plan. This will include developing the child's physical development, communication skills, engagement and interaction, sensory processing and self-help and independence skills.

The hours for this post are:

Post 2: 12:45-3:15pm Monday to Friday

The successful candidate will:

Have experience in supporting pupils with SEND
Have a commitment to high quality inclusive teaching and learning.
Have excellent communication skills and a commitment to work in partnership with school staff, parents and other professionals
Establish a good relationship with the child, identifying and responding to individual needs
Attend to personal care needs as required e.g. supporting toileting, changing and feeding
Be able to read documents to understand the strengths and needs of the child and the strategies to work towards the next step
Be able to engage and motivate children to learn, building on the strengths and resources of the child.
Keep the child safe in all areas of the school environment, including when moving around school, the playground and lunch hall
Deliver specialist support plans as required and maintain appropriate records e.g. finger strengthening exercises
Be able to contribute to assessment, planning, monitoring and evaluations. Contribute to EHCP review meetings
Work well as part of a team, as well as being pro-active in finding strategies and approaches that work and have the flexibility to change what doesn't work, feeding back to the class teacher and SENCo
Liaise with parents and specialists
Attend training opportunities
