Are you looking for a new and exciting role to join the team, teaching essential Literacy and Numeracy skills to children with SpLDs? Are you committed, enthusiastic and warm-hearted towards children with SEN? Then this challenge could be for you!

Clarity SEN Consultancy Ltd, a successful private SEN tuition company based in Chelmsford, is looking for a Learning Support Assistant or Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, eager to start as soon as possiblein our dyslexia unit, attached to our newly opening full time Independent SEN School. We provide SEN assessments and part-time tuition to support children in mainstream and special schools, providing integrated support between home, school and the Clarity Dyslexia Centre.

The successful candidate will be working with pupils aged 5 - 18 years, delivering 1:1 lessons. You will be mostly teaching in the Dyslexia Centre and Clarity Independent School, but will be required to travel to other pupils' schools and homes (occasionally up to one hour away) to deliver teaching. You will claim your travel expenses monthly. You will be supported, mentored and formally trained to achieve the Level 4 Dyslexia Action Certificate in Supporting Literacy in Learners with Dyslexia, completed within a year. There are further options for training and you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent Dyslexia Specialist post within the company if available. The trainee post comprises 32 hours, concentrating mostly around 8.30am - 5.30pm, Mondays to Thursdays during Essex County Council term times. Your ratio of teaching : paid non-contact time is 5:3.

Key roles and responsibilities:
· Successfully completing the Level 4 Certificate in Supporting Literacy in Learners with Dyslexia
· Teaching 1:1 lessons using the techniques learnt through mentoring and formal training
· Teaching Literacy and Numeracy using structured SEN teaching programmes (training provided)
· Working with external professionals, parents and the Clarity team
· Supporting pupils to access the curriculum in their full-time school (homework etc.)
· Liaising with parents and schools as required
· Researching and providing up to date relevant advice regarding pupils
· Making resources to support lessons
· Additional options to apply to train further to the Level 5 Strategic Teaching Diploma, CCET (Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing) to deliver exam access assessments and/or the PPAR (Professional Practice in Assessment and Reporting) to deliver diagnostic SpLD assessments (at the Manager's discretion.)


You will need:
· Qualifications to A level or equivalent
· Previous experience with supporting/teaching SEN 1:1 in school(s) and preferably dyslexia
· Full clean driving licence and own car

Information about the School

Clarity Independent School is a special needs school for pupils with complex profiles of learning and SEND. We take pupils aged between 6 and 16 years and all pupils are referred to the school by the Statutory Assessment team of Essex Local Authority, based at Essex House in Colchester. We have 12 places.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
