Groundsman / Caretaker

LGS Band 2 Points 11-16 depending on experience

Actual Salary £17,604 - £18,916 per annum including Outer Fringe Allowance

37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Monday to Thursday 5.30am to 1.30pm & Friday 5.30am to 1pm

Hours subject to change during school closure periods

We are looking for an experienced Groundsman who is enthusiastic, reliable and practical person to join our friendly and professional site team at this large secondary school. You will provide a full grounds maintenance service across the school property to ensure the school is well presented.

Experience of handling and using in their day-to-day role on ride on lawn mowers, tractors, and hedge cutters. Candidates should have good all round knowledge of gardening and grounds maintenance as well as line marking, renovation of pitches and managing sports surfaces.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to grass cutting, leaf blowing, pruning hedges and shrubs, small tree felling, planting, weed killer application, Leaf/rubbish collection and all other aspects of garden and equipment maintenance. You will also support the Site Manager with caretaking duties including porterage, cleaning, minor repairs and general maintenance as required.

  • PA1/PA6 would be an advantage
  • Level 3 Sports Turf Maintenance and Sports Ground Management is desirable
  • A full, clean driver's license is essential

Candidates will need to be in good health due to the physical nature of some of the work and have a flexible approach. Previous experience in a similar position would be beneficial and will preferably have experience of doing so in a school environment, although this is not essential.
