The Governors are seeking to appoint a Head of Languages. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and enthusiastic professional and an excellent classroom practitioner, with the ability to teach German to A Level. This would be an ideal opportunity for an ambitious teacher aspiring to middle leadership.

This is an exciting time to join a high-performing department. Languages are an integral part of the St Mark's curriculum, and we are proud that our EBacc results are the highest of the Harlow schools. German and French are popular GCSE options, with results consistently exceeding the national average, while at A Level, we average ALPS scores of 3 or above. We are bucking national trends in MFL and regularly send pupils to university to study languages. The department runs residential trips to Berlin and Paris and a day-trip to France.

About St Mark's West Essex Catholic School

St Mark’s is a successful, well-ordered and caring Catholic school for approximately 1000 boys and girls aged from eleven to eighteen, situated in the heart of Harlow, Essex.

Location

Harlow is a new town situated in the beautiful county of Essex. Harlow offers everything from arts, culture and theatre to sport, parks and nature reserves. The school is close to the M11 with quick links to the M25 and only 15 miles from Central London. A 20 minute drive will get you to Stansted Airport. Harlow is served by two mainline railway Stations, Harlow Town and Harlow Mill from where there are trains to and from London Liverpool Street, Stansted Airport and Cambridge. There is also a bus service to Epping tube station on the Central Line for London Underground.
