We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, creative and committed teacher of Art to join a supportive, enthusiastic and collaborative team. Applications are welcome from experienced and newly-qualified teachers able to teach throughout the age and ability range and to engender positive relationships with young people. The school offers an excellent induction for NQTs and would be able to support you through your first year. Candidates seeking a part-time role (minimum 0.6 FTE) will also be considered.
Alec Hunter Academy is a mixed, 11-16 comprehensive school with an established reputation as a welcoming and forward-thinking learning community. Ofsted graded the school as 'good' for the first time in its history in July 2017, with the report noting that "School leaders have established a culture where expectations of pupils and teachers are high and improvement is rapid". We are full partners in the Braintree Sixth Form, which provides opportunities for some of our staff to teach at Key Stage 5. The school works in close partnership with Saffron Walden County High School, one of the highest performing schools in Essex, within the Saffron Academy Trust. Numerous opportunities for professional development exist through this partnership and our membership of several local networks, including two teaching school alliances.
